Almost 17 percent of the engineering and science students questioned cited ABB as their first choice, ahead of foodmaker Nestlé and IBM, the computer company.
Graduates said they favored employers that have a broad scope of activities and that offer the possibility of an international career.
``I’m very pleased that our higher education marketing initiative is showing such success,’’ said Stefan Schmid, head of university marketing for ABB Switzerland.
Business students put ABB 28th in the ranking, down from 19th last year.
Universum, a Swedish consultant in the field of employer branding, conducts annual surveys of graduates in 27 countries. Almost 3,500 students at 24 universities and technical colleges were questioned for the 2006 survey in Switzerland.
